Derby skates are similar to quad roller skates but with a lower boot cut than traditional artistic skates.
If you are just starting out, you can use your old roller skates to start out with, but if you plan on sticking with the sport, we suggest you splash out and get the real deal. Rookie packages are available through most Derby Skate sites that include padding and other extras.
Investing in good gear is worthwhile. At minimum, good kneepads, wheels and bearings will keep you happier for longer.
If you are going to play derby, remember you will need protection. Required gear is:
:: Roller Skates
:: Helmet
:: Mouthguard
:: Knee Pads
:: Elbow Pads
:: Wristguards
:: and your unique derby name... Check the derby name register to see if a name is available
