‘Fresh Meat’ is the name given to new skaters in training, prior to graduating into one of our three league teams. Training is usually done over 10 weeks, although this time-frame varies between individuals.
Girls need to be 18 years of age to start.
Our June intake is currently full, but if you are interested in joining us for a future intake, please email us your details.
Fresh meat are provided with some basic training in skating, but focus will be on skills for the game of roller derby. If you do not have any skating experience prior to this, get some skates and practice. We stress that you will need to show some aptitude and commitment within the first few weeks to keep your place. If you plan to join, or are newly commencing we suggest you skate as much as you can outside of training hours to get your skills up quickly. Not everyone will make it through fresh meat, so give yourself the best chance of success.
If you plan on joining the league you are going to need to provide your own equipment. Look at our skates and gear page for information on what you’ll need and where you can get it.
